The Foundation Programme applies nationally but its successful implementation depends on the availability of a broad spectrum of clinical cases and an experienced education team with good administrative support. Heart of England delivers. We have a Foundation Programme Director, Dr Ola Erinfolami a consultant in A&E and three postgraduate clinical tutors. Dr Sharon Jones has experience as an undergraduate sub-dean and contributes to smoothing the transition between the two. She is based on the Good Hope site. Mr David Burkitt is a general surgeon and is one of six careers advisers appointed by the West Midlands Deanery. Dr Phil Bright is a respiratory physician and the head of the Birmingham Foundation School. We believe the programme supports Good Medical Practice, patient safety and personal development. We will ensure you have careers guidance and a “taster” careers experience, PLS if necessary, simulation training if you did not have it in your final year at medical school and ALS. We help you acquire evidence of competence and settle in to being an employee. Heart of England is busy and we set high standards for our trainees but this means you will learn a lot and progress in your chosen career.
