As a member of the HEFT Faculty of Education Board the role of Clinical Dean is to champion the excellent care of patients and their families through professional leadership in service situated learning. The Trust aspires to be a centre of excellence for healthcare education and as such the aim of the clinical Dean is to work in partnership with HEFT Faculty of Education staff to help establish HEFT as national innovator and leader in the field of healthcare education and research that underpins service/ work situated learning. As a clinical expert embedded in practice the Clinical Deans will take a lead strategic role in the following ways:
• Take a leading role in the advancement of their subject and/or professional field through excellence in clinical practice, education, research, consultancy and/or professional activity at the national and international level.
• As a member of the HEFT Faculty Board provide local clinical and academic leadership for education and research and further its development with HEFT.
• Support the HEFT Faculty of Education in the development of a tailored portfolio of learning pathways linked to high quality clinical care and career development.
• Engage in activities to actively promote and market the Faculty in national and international arenas.
• Represent the Faculty Board by establishing contact and maintaining liaison with appropriate business links, professional and regulatory bodies, Government and other agencies and academic institutions both nationally and internationally.
• Collaborate and maintain strong links with Faculty practice fellows and HEI’s at local, regional and national levels.
• Make an active contribution to the agenda of educational activities and enhancing the learner experience at undergraduate, post graduate, CPD and trainer levels.
Act as the Faculty’s link to supervisors, mentors, trainers and assessors in practice.
• Contribute to the formulation of long term strategic plans for education, training and clinical practice at HEFT.
