Experience:

Craig graduated from Leeds University in Biochemistry and Food Science and started training as a clinical biochemist at Leeds General Infirmary. He gained an MSc in Clinical Biochemistry from Manchester University as part of his training. He has worked at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford and Nottingham City Hospital before gaining his Consultant post at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.

 

Craig is a fellow and examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath), and is the accredited training supervisor for clinical biochemists at HEFT. He has been involved in education and development throughout his career. He is a lecturer and organising committee member for the West Midlands Training Course in clinical biochemistry, which results in an MSc from Birmingham University. He has been involved in a number of e-learning projects and has produced material and courses for the Association of Clinical Biochemistry, International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine and the RCPath. As well as being responsible for training and development of scientists he is Deputy Head of department for Biochemistry and Immunology and is responsible for the special techniques and analysis section of Clinical Chemistry. Craig’s research interests are in Tandem Mass Spectroscopy, Vitamin D and oxidative stress.
