The Healthcare Careers Development Unit (HCDU) is an integral part of the HEFT Faculty of Education. The team are based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital, providing service situated learning opportunities. In line with the HEFT Workforce Development Strategy we encourage and enable you to reach your full potential at work as a central part to the delivery of timely modern healthcare services.

HCDU Healthcare Careers & Development Unit can offer you and your manager support to enable you to develop and achieve your full potential and lifelong career in healthcare.

We offer work related learning in a range of clinical and non-clinical subjects across all sites. These can lead to nationally recognised qualifications. We provide quality educational programmes and we ensure that all staff have equal access to training. We provide a variety of clinical and non-clinical subjects. To provide an effective way of supporting your development in the workplace we will support and help you to develop the skills you need to do your job well, whatever they are e.g customer care, computing skills, minute taking, time management, interview skills and assertiveness.
